that is spelt way wrong b/w...
I had a Antec NEO HE 550watt. i installed the set-up in my sig and it ran fine for 7-10minutes.
the PSU started making a crackling noise, my ceiling lights would flicker and i was inspecting it. soon enough it went boom and started to smoke, i killed the power. (a lot of smoke)
My dad said it smelt like a transister fried in the PSU. he said it was most likley malfunctional because i couldnt cause it to happen, well for one i wasnt using 550watts and to i didnt install anything wrong.
I packaged up the psu and going for the RMA and get a replacment for free.
Is my hardwear fried? I mean someone told me that the capaciters are the first to go - here is the quote -
Now, on my mother board, all of the cylinder barrel like capasiters are good, no bulging what-so ever. Then there are the donut like capasiters, like the one in this picture....
(the one on the far far right. mine looks like that only the wires are a little more "U" shaped instead of hugging the capaciter. only the yellow donut capaciter looks like that. the green 2 and the black 4 all look fine.
CAN SOMEONE LOOK AT THEIR CAPACITERS AND TELL ME WHAT EXACTLY THEY LOOK LIKE? LOOK AT THE DONUT SHAPED ONES, 4BLACK 1 YELLOW AND 2 GREEN CAPACITERS. TELL ME WHAT THE WIRES LOOK LIKE WHEN THEY ARE WRAPPED AROUND THE CAPACITER!!!!!!!!!!!!
THANKS

Yes there is a way to test your mobo with the DMM !!
There are caps on the mobo (capasitors). The CAPS look like little mini barrells with a metal top ! (you might want to have a look on google or summin to get a pic of a capasitor !.
They have little X`s on the top !, when they lay flat they are OK, when they are Expanded !! they are probably blown !! use your DMM to test this if that is the case !
Im pretty sure they wound be the first thing to blow on a mobo if summin were to go.
