You might remember my other thread about getting a computer $230 or cheaper because I have a tight budget.

But I am intrested in this computer:

500Mhz Celeron 3d, Rage Video (?), CD burner, Windows XP, MS Ofc, 2005 Norton for $150

whats the ram and hard drive, if it includes those then i would take that. As long as u dont plan on playing any games of any sort.

That's an OK deal... Celerons are quite crummy, and 3D Rage video is probably ATI's graphics. I had a Rage IIc in my old emachines. It was crap... HOPEFULLY it's an AGP card and you could upgrade it to some halfway decent card, but your processor would still be quite the bottleneck...

Rage was both onboard or seperate cards. I know for a fact there was a PCI version, but not sure about an AGP version. I would try asking 100$ if that for the computer and see what they say.

512MB Memory - $30
80GB IDE Hard Drive - $40
Windows XP - $100 (upgrade)
CD-Burner - $20

Its worth more then $100, but you might as well ask, theres no harm. But i would get it for $150 and just use it for internet and stuff. Although i dont know what XP is like on a 500Mhz Celeron.

Wow, old computer. Believe you could upgrade to a pentium III 1.0Ghz Socket 370, if you can find one for around the price of the computer, that should give it a huge boost. I still have an old compaq with that chip, runs great.

perfect for checking your mail. windows xp + msoffice would cost more than 150$ right there.

that would work for all the basic things you need, like internet, or typing up some papers.
just make sure that thats all you want to do.

Actually I have a computer with a PII 266mhz, 196mb ram laptop with xp pro on it and I have all the pretty "fisher price" stuff turned on, and it still runs great. Its perfect for surfing the net, playing older games, word processing etc.

I had a 133mhz 128 ram laptop running xp pro. It took about 5 min to boot up(really it did). It was one of the funnyest things ever... that lap top is now running 98se only because of xp taking for ever to boot.
