There should be a ridiculously large quality difference between VGA and HDMI. VGA is very grainy and not as sharp as HDMI.
depends what resoultion your running at 1080p on vga has the same pixels as 1080p on hdmi, my tv, for some reason, looks better on the same res using a vga cable than on a high quailty hd cable, but my HDTV is a couple of years old and i think for computers thats the res it was designed to look best on for connections to computers.
One of the main advantages HDMI has is that it can also carry audio.
Using my vga lead and port on two gpus the max res listed is 1360*765, even though both gpus can support higher res using hdmi i can go up to 1920*1080.
I have noticed a rediculous difference. I was amazed. You might have something else in the mix causing a degraded signal.

Thats unusual that you cant see the diffrence,I have had my VGA monitor hooked up alongside my DVI monitor and theres much better quality in my DVI monitor so your HDMI should be better.
However you cant really tell the diffrence between DVI to HDMI...well i couldnt anyway.
Well you need to tell me your secret as my is set on full resolution, with a hd cable.
lol there's no secret. As I said, there may be an issue with your setup. If you can't notice a difference, there is definitely something amiss.
What kind of video card are you using to compare these video types? The one in your sig? I don't think a 9800gt will be powerful enough to show you everything you're "missing". It's good that you're using a larger resolution. Do you have your colors set to 16 or 32 bit in the control panel?
yep its a nvidi 9800gt i think a new gpu is on my list and its set on 32bit... but i really think this card is under-rated as the graphics on it are awesome for its age. you wont see much difference from a newer hard and this.
Your GPU is more than capable of powering HDMI. I noticed a difference immediately with my ATI 4200 intergrated graphics chip set in HDMI. How long have you had that GPU? It's possible that it may be degrading.
Yes i know my gpu is pretty decent but i think the 4200 is a better performing card..... well its easily over a year old i think it came with the pc new, is there a way i can bring it back to life![]()
