johnb35 Administrator Staff member Jun 5, 2021 #2 Because they are seldom used anymore. I still use mine from time to time. They are not put in laptops so they can make them thinner and install other hardware in its place.

beers Moderator Staff member Jun 6, 2021 #4 Much like the floppy, they've gone the way of the dinosaur in favor of flash storage. Externals can be found pretty cheap, there's occasional slickdeals and similar for ~$15-20 for an external DVD-DL burner via USB.
