I think alienware gyped me

If there was no option to upgrade you are stuck without it. Vendors like newegg offered free upgrades to Vista. Besides that today's date is 1/31/07 not the 30th. I would contact them to see if you were supposed get an email with the option for a free upgrade.

There was an option.

I cant belive this, i have to spend retail price on a piece of shit anyway.

I would rather have a high-end Dell XPS(XPS M2010) than an alienware

well good luck

and id rather have neither, that really does not help the problem.

also, I wouldn't even want to upgrade to vista anyways, games and other 3D applications actually perform better on windows XP. So, technically at this point you would be down grading yourself.

You should have gotten a coupon/booklet saying how to upgrade to Vista if you choose that option. Then you can go to microsofts website and request Vista for free.

If anything here I would continue to run XP on the drive here with games installed and Vista on the second to replace the second XP installation there. Well I use the second for dual OSing anyways. :D

Vista is suppose to provide better framerates in games... once games are written for Vista that is.

Yup and with DX 10 vista will get an exciting new look (oh wait I am just reading the on screen propaganda during the installer?).

It will get better but probably not for at least 1 year.

Once that happens...tell me :). There will always be certain games that run considerably slower on Vista.

Games written for XP obviously will, but Vista is suppose to provide better communications with the game and hardware directly, and not go through the OS and drivers as much, which should increase performance.

You still have to wait for the final verdict. That will probably be seen after the eventual service paxks that come out later to fix the bugs found.
