i think i blew up my psu... :(

hey guys
heres the deal, i unplugged my pc coz i wanted to move it out of my room and into the living. When i plugged it back in, i did one of the stupidest mistakes ever, i didnt turn off the power to the socket... i plugged the power cable into the socket and THEN into my computer then i heard a small bang and the smell of burning plastic... do i need a new psu? and would anything else have been damged by my actions??

That shouldnt cause it to explode, did you accidently have the red switch set to 220V instead of 115V?
 
or with cheap ass PSU's, when you plug them in after they have been pluged in for a long period of time, the sudden recharge might blow the capacitor
 
I really dont think you blew your PSU, it sounds like you have blown the power strip. Have you tried it on a different outlet? I have done this before and the most I did was blow my power strip. What kind of PSU do you have?
