ok i have an ati radeon 800 XT and i was overclocking it yesterday i accidently set it to high and my screen got weird like scrambles in it, so it went away when i turned it down a bit, i went to play a game today and it looks like this, what do you think.

I have had this happen to my laptop, when this happens, you need to alt-tab and it will go back to normal. I mean, yeh there is something with the card, 'cus this is a temp fix.
Have you tried system restore?:D

That kinda artifacting is in practically all cases caused by 1)overheating and 2)GPU damage, in most cases due to overheating. I would try stock speeds and then see if it still does that. Also, try using some program to monitor your GPU temps, I can't think of one right now (except for CCC, there should be a temp monitor in "Overdrive").

EDIT: I wouldn't worry, though, I htink it's extremely unlikely that yo've permanently damaged your card, dialing back the OC should do the trick.

ANOTHER EDIT: Having a more careful look at the picture, I still think it's artifacting but there's a possibility of software error... I remember textures appearing weird in a game, something had damaged the installation and reeinstalling the game helped.

I'd be inclined to take it out of its current rig and try it in a friends....try running something like 3dMark to see if the artifacts appear in full test mode. What you could also try is flashing an original firmware to the card. I had similar problems after flashing a slightly different Nvidia bios to a non-standard card....suddenly I had like "worms" all over the screen and artifacts galore! Turns out that it was the bios flash mismatch, once I found an original and redid it, sorted! Coz you have pushed this card really hard, taking it abck to factory defaults MIGHT cure it....worth a shot?

I am not saying it will work, but its worth a shot. Gfx cards are pretty darn cheap at the mo,so you could always put it on ebay for spares/repair, raise some money towards a new one?

If u do sell it tho be honest....the bottom line is that this will probably be fine in 2d mode for surfing, office etc but crap in games.

Have you run any video diagnostics yet ?
BEst of luck c76:)
