I think my iPod might be possessed......

.....but seriously, my iPod just did something that scared the living crap out of me and I about had a heart attack. I was in Alien Blue, browsing my Reddit subs, and suddenly this awful static sound blasts out of the built-in speaker. It sounded like AM radio static! My ringtones were muted, my volume was at 0, everything was silent. This has happened twice now, and only when browsing in the Alien Blue app. I don't know if Reddit is trolling me or something, but I am SCARED!

Alright I figured it out. The noise occurs in other apps as well. I unplugged it from my charger and it stopped. I plugged the iPod back into the wall and it happened once more. Somehow my charger is distorting my speaker.

EDIT: I was just iMessaging friends with the iPod UNPLUGGED and on SILENT and it happened again. WTF ?!

I keep my iPod touch on mute at all times, ringtone and volume, but lately it has been making this loud static noise, almost AM-radio like, whenever I am charging it. I am not playing any audio, it is just making this weird noise all by itself--but only when it is on the charger. If I play audio over the speaker it is horribly distorted, but headphones work perfectly fine. Can someone please explain WTF is going on here?!

I merged the threads, in the older thread you said it happens when it was unplugged and in a later thread you say it only happens when it is plugged in and charging, you may want to clarify that if people are to offer suggestions.

Alright I tested my theory a bit further. The sound will come out of the speaker distorted and crappy regardless of if it is plugged in or not. However headphones sound perfectly fine. Conclusion = internal speaker took a crap.

However... The speaker seems perfectly fine when using Siri

I rebooted the iPod and now the issue only occurs when it is charging. I put on 80s music full-blast and no issue. I plugged in the charger and it instantly distorted. I unplugged the charger and the sound was clear again.
