I think my 'mom's' PSU is no good....

If the 12v is truly only 8Amps....i would venture to say it's crap lol.

But in a Compaq...why do you need a better PSU? Replacing it with sometihing might void warranty.

unless it starts giving you trouble i wouldn't bother replacing it really. unless your mom is an overclocker/intense gamer with pretty power hungry hardware of course.

no, she's not. she just like to watch dvds and listen cd's...

well for the moment it's not, but in past. oh boy! her pc kept on restarting over and over again!!!!!! we would be using the PC and the computer would suddenly just restart. Turns out it was the PSU. adding new software, drivers, playing dvd's, cd's, whatever! the pc would just restart.
