I want to build a gaming computer. HELP!!!

Hello this is my first post and i am also quite an amateur with computers. Most of the time i'm just surfing on the internet or doing homework. Some time ago, I used to play games like Wow or dawn of war on my old computer but i was never quite satisfied with the experience becouse it was still quite weak and the games lagged a lot. Well that computer broke and now i have a new one that is even slower which I regret ever buying becouse lately i have really been wanting to play some of those new games on the market like dawn of war 2, or mount&blade warband. So i have decided to get rid of my ignorance about technology. Anyway, according to what i have read about gaming pcs the best way to get one is to build it youself since the pre-built pc's often cost much more and you can easily get stuck with some part you don't want like a really bad CPU. I didn't exactly know what parts a pc was made of so i read some internet guides (mostly this one http://www.build-gaming-computers.com/custom-gaming-computers.html ) to buying, and assembling the parts for your pc. It has helped me to understand what parts i need to buy, but still i am not AT ALL(!) sure what to look for in those parts and i don't understand what they are capable of from reading their specs(?). Despite this i have been looking at some parts in almost the right price range.

CPU: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4240164&CatId=4072 (too expensive?)

Motherboard: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5019765&CatId=4070

Hard drive: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=61389&CatId=2459

RAM: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=226347&CatId=4534 or http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=41013&CatId=4534

Graphics card: What do you think? I've heard the video card is the most important thing for a gaming pc.

Case: I have this at the moment.
t_scaleo_p_133.jpg
It's my old computer case. Althought i wonder if it will suffice?

Power supply: power supply model is DELTA ELECTRONICS, INC: DPS-350AB - 4 A REV( i don't know what parts i should leave out ). I don't know if it's its wattage but somewhere it says 350w max.

Fans: need advice.

DVD burner: i have one inside my old computer that i can reuse i believe.

This would probably allready top my budget atm which is about 700euros.
So i also want to know if it is even possible for me to build a pc that could run games like dawn of war 2 smoothly with such a budget or should i start saving, what do you think? Am i a dumb nut for wanting to try building a pc? What parts do you recommend? How do i know if the parts i'm buying are any good? where should i buy the parts? I would also very much like to know what kind of pc you would build for 700 euros with games like dawn of war 2 in mind. Everything, anything that could help me please comment. Thank you in advance!

You could probly go with Sandy Bridge or AND platform.

Exactly what case is it?
And take the side panel off and post the power supply model/wattage too pls, mainly for the video card power requirements.

That machine doesn't look like it gets much airflow. You might wanna consider buying a new case if you have the budget.

I would go with AMD CPUs so then you'll have extra money to spend on a very nice graphics card.

Oh, I'm sorry! It's Fujitsu siemens SCALEO P
power supply model is DELTA ELECTRONICS, INC: DPS-350AB - 4 A REV( i don't know what parts i should leave out:D ). I don't know if it's its wattage but somewhere it says 350w max.

I'm noticing that my case has airholes on the side that shows on the picture ( the right side from the front ). Does that mean it's a different model:confused:?

You definitely need to upgrade your power supply. Probably around 650w.
Okay. Is there anything else about it i should take into consideration than that it has high enough wattage? And do you think i could build a good enough gaming pc for dawn of war 2 and other games with similar requirements with 700 euros?

What are the sandy bridge and platform, what makes them good?
Also, do you think it is important that the motherboard supports SLI?
Anyone is welcome to answer i just replied to him becouse he recommended them.

Where are you going to be ordering from and whats your limit on spending?

I've been checking out parts at Tigerdirect.com but this is my first time, so if you have any suggestions :D. My limit at the moment is ca. 700euros.

Where are you going to be ordering from? The prices and stock can be different from Tiger and Newegg compared to where you live.

I asked at Yahoo! answer what kind of gaming computer you would build with 700e and some guy answered this
i5 2500k , Z68 board, 550w xfx core or Enermax power supply , 4gb ram , 1tb sasmung f3 , haf 912 , GTX 560 Ti, windows O/S.

Not bad for a yahoo answer that place has the crappiest questions and answers.
If the above build fits in your budget then since I do not know about any Finland Online Computer Store. Then Good.
I would get the HD6950 instead of the GTX 560 if it fits your budget.
Make sure the drive the Sata 6GBps before buying and post which motherboard would you be going for.
The HAF 912 is a good case.
AND XFX 550W is a really good PSU.
4GB DDR3 - 1600MHz Of GSKILL/Corsair/Patriot/Mushkins/Kingston would be good.

''Make sure the drive the Sata 6GBps'' I'm sorry what does this mean?
''AND XFX 550W is a really good PSU.'' Okay good but some said i should go for a PSU with 650'ish wattage. If the requirements for my equipment are filled is this not an issue?
The build would cost 983,2 euros :( if i bought these parts:

http://www.verkkokauppa.com/fi/product/54975/csjkk/Cooler-Master-GX-650-W-ATX-virtalahde-musta ( I did'nt find any of those two he recommended )

http://www.verkkokauppa.com/fi/product/16061/dbqxc/Asus-P8Z68-V-Intel-Z68-LGA1155-ATX-emolevy

So where should i cut it to get it down to 700euros?
Can i also ask why parts of the same model vary in price? Thanks.

Give me a budget, and i'll create a build. PM it to me if you don't wish to share it, but other than that, it'll just be complicated to help you. You can post my recommended build if you like, but I suspect most will agree.
