I have decided to install Linux on my new hard drive. A couple of questions I have.

1. What is the easiest one to use and will Linux use all 4GB of my RAM?

2. Can anybody give me a good link to download it from and some instructions on how to install it?

3. Does anybody know I good guide to learning how to use Linux I have pretty much never used it only a few times on friends computers?

Thanks for any help!

1. ubuntu is by far the easiest to install/use

2. http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=ubuntu

3. the easiest way to learn how to use it, is by using it! like i said, ubuntu makes it pretty easy and the learning curve from windows isn't really that bad.

Thanks it's downloading now. When I get it downloaded do I have to burn it to a CD or can a just install it right from my HDD. Also when I install it will it let me choose where I want it to install like which hard drive.

you'll need to burn it to a cd. it'll let you choose the hard-drive/partition you want. you may also want to make a swap partition, this is used in when all of your RAM is being used up. (not likely but still, it's always good to have a swap). it'll prompt you through all that kind of stuff during the install screens, make the swap partition 4GB.

Alright sounds good also do I burn it using a data CD/DVD or an ISO.

Doesn't really matter if it will use all of your RAM anyway, as you won't have any applications for Linux that will utilize it.

64 bit will use all 4gb, 32bit will not. Download the *.iso and burn it as an image. Don't extract it and burn it. If you don't have any software to burn the ISO, download deepburner free. Works great.

trust me, make the swap anyway. there's NO reason not to. when i installed ubuntu for the first time i didn't make a swap and it would constantly freeze (just when i was navigating and messing with desktop effects) the second time i made a swap and i never had any problems.

Ill be sure to do that besides it's not going to hurt anything if I do or don't.

Yeah it's a good idea to make swap space. It's basically virtual memory, so if you run out of space on your RAM, it will use the hard drive space instead.

Ok I'm installing now and there is an options called Accessibility and it has these options Visibility 1,2, and 3 or braille and Mobility 1, and 2. Do I just select none or what.
