I want to make gaming videos.

Hey people, as you can see i want to start making videos on my computer of w/e game i am playing at the time (SKYRIM!!!). I heard FRAPS is the best program to do this so that is what i am going to use. I heard FRAPS is pretty demanding on your computer so i will tell you my spec, please tell me what i should add to my pc to make it so that FRAPS will not effect my gaming. Thanks

CPU- i5 2500k
Ram- 8g ddr3 1600mhz
HDD- 500gb 7200rpm 6gbps (im pretty sure this need to be upgraded.)
Mobo- not really important but i have an msi z68 gd80
video card- galaxy gtx 580
750 w power supply

Do i need to upgrade anything to handle FRAPS and a game like skyrim at the same time w/o noticing the difference?

With them specs you should be fine, from my experience fraps knocks off about 10-20fps, with a gtx 580 and an i5 2500k you shouldn't notice that what so ever :P

I think the only thing that would make a difference is more ram.

8GB is more than enough.

For video recording, you will want an SSD as a boot/OS drive, a storage drive, and a dedicated recording drive.

Recording to the same drive your game is on will cause stuttering, frame drops and stuttering in the video.

Well i am not buying an ssd. Do you think another 500g hard drive would be good for recordings?

It all really depends on which quality you'd wan't, but if you're recording in FULL HD, but a 500GB would be enough, would recommend NOT to buy "green" drives, they are slow, and a normal one costs about the same... would also recommend to wait a little before buying, the flood in Thailand has affected alot of the hard drive prices, just a little tip :)

why no ssd, really their prices have become reasonable now, and flooding in thailand or wherever the hdd's are made has made them ridiculous, so get like a vertex 3 60gb for like 130, which is how much a 500 gb is about at now, or at least any good ones i think, don't really look at them. but then put the game on the ssd and fraps save on hdd.
