I want to mirror external HDDs..

Im thinking about getting external HDDs that can mirror to each other. I also want to be able to password protect them to keep documents private and secure. What solution do I need?
 
I'm not sure how you mirror external drives. But as far as password protection you may just want to use Truecrypt and encrypt the drives. Although a software based RAID controller isn't what you want with Truecrypt.
 
You'll probably end up needing to build your own external with an enclosure that supports RAID.
