I currently have some old piece of junk in my office at work that I want to upgrade. The Boss won't upgade unless my one breaks down. Has anyone got any ideas how to permanately stuff a computer without any noticable damage.

Cheers

That's pretty immature dude, you'll be costing the company money for your own personal wants. If you can't properly justify your need for a more powerful computer, than I think it's pretty obvious you don't need one yet.

hmmmmmmmmmmm??????????? take off the cpu heat sink and fan use the pc untill the cpu burns out then put it back on and say WTF this pc is 4TL!

Thanks for all your help.
The computer is now phucked because I just shorted a heap of shit out untill it wouldn't start again.
I tell you shat, they don't make computers like they used too.
Can't wait to get my new gear.
If anybody else wouled like some tips on rendering a PC useless then let me know and I'll point you in the right direction.

How about simply tossing a bit of water in the case, and switching the PSU over to 230v (if you live in the US) The water will fry it for sure, and the switch over to 230v will fry the PSU along with other hardware (hopefully). IF your boss told you to ruin it then I guess that's fine, I just wouldn't want to be caught doing it without proper permissions.

flashing the mobo bios with some unsupported version would be enough, it wont boot up at all, u know how to flash bios right?

easiest way is to physically damage it, not by putting a new bios in. I would bend a pin or 2 on the cpu. Or you can build up some static electricty then touch the motherboard, and it will probably short it out.

yeah but if you flash the bios and the computer wont work u cant see the physical damage anywhere, u dont have to mess your hand when u can do just a few mouse clicks ;) , btw 1 pin would be enough

I did that once, changed the PSU and it worked.

how about cut a power plug in half and drag the exposed wire across the mobo

You could cut the wire going from the PSU to the motherboard as well.

My guess is if you do what we all told you, you'll have yourself a destroyed PC :P

i say get a ballon and static that baby up place it near componants then do everything else result a pc with no trace of self harm :)

Yeah that makes sense though, switching from a high rating to a low one is bad :)

It most certainly is, back in 98 I was standing 3 feet away from a guy when he accidently plugged in a 486 with the PSU Volt selector switch set at 115V instead of our 230V!

The bang was so loud my left ear was ringing a good 24 hours after. :(

It's not my money.
The boss was the one that told me to ruin the PC anyway.

it is your money. You get paid by the company. Every time the company has to spend more money, it has less money to pay you....and the rest of the employees. Why don't you send an e-mail to all your coworkers and tell them what you're doing. SInce they will end up paying for it in the long run, they should have a part in it.

Oh yea and refusing to upgrade until the old one breaks down is not asking you to destroy it.

I hope you break it and get caught

BTW: I doubt you will ever come back, but I wouldn't consider an asus P4S800 and a Intel P4 2.8Ghz
some old piece of junk in my office

google is your friend :D
