I was wondering if anyone could solve my dilemma. I have an acer 5520 laptop - it has 2Gb of memory and a Geforce 8600M GS graphics card and some AMD Turion 64 x2 processor - I'm not much of a computer woman so I don't know what info I should include. Anyway, the problem is that I have bought Team fortress 2 from Steam and it won't play very well. Unreal tournament 3 plays pretty well, much better than TF2, but I thought this wouldn't be the case. In TF2 I have the around the same ping as everyone else playing so I don't think it's a problem with the internet. I have Vista and I have changed it to run for better performance, I have cleaned up my computer etc etc. One problem is that I have to get the graphics card driver from the acer site and the only one there is old. I got my computer loving housemates to look at it and they did something about the driver (sorry I can't be more specific). I thought this laptop would be able to play this game - I'm quite frustrated. Please let me know if you have any idea what's wrong!

try changing in the in-game settings lower (lower fps, detail, etc.)
and see what happens
