I was wondering, what would be some good lan games.

I am having a lan party this Friday and I was wondering if any of you have any suggestions toward what we should play. I would like to have one of each genera (except puzzles and racing). Also no abreviations PLEASE!
 
Starcraft is always good, BFME and BFME 2 are good, they both hook up and run easily on a LAN. Stuff like C&C always seems to have some problems.
UT2004 and Battlefront (and Battlefront 2) if good. Battlefield 2 can be good, if you have enough people.
 
here are some for you...the ones with the * are recommended for lower end machines, while the ones with two asterisks require higher end machines. there are really only two good categories for lanning, strategy and first person shooters.

strategy/'see your little men and tell them what to do' games:

starcraft* (more 'actioney')
warcraft 3 or world of warcraft**
command and conquer games (red alert 2, generals)*
empire earth*
age of empires series (more slow and methodical)*

first person shooters:

counterstrike*
counterstrike source (half life 2 is required I believe)**
unreal tournament *
unreal tournament 2004 **
painkiller*
quake 4 **
battlefield 2** (like said before, you'll want at least 10 people or else the games will be slow)

those are just a few...if you're doing fps (first person shooter) games, then I'd recommend quake 4 and unreal tournament 2004. if you have alot of people, battlefield 2 is great. for strategy games i recommend starcraft and warcraft.
 
LOL when I meant no abreviations I meant for the game lol I know my gamine lingo and my online lingo ;) just so you know.

Well if you want some *old school* fun try these on for size;

Counter Strike or Team Fortress
Worms (any version)
Red Faction

argh i can't think of anymore i really played lol. Gunz is alot of fun if you can get it to work.

ah yeah i loved worms!!!...although the new 3d ones kinda sucked:(
 
LAN games

Wow Team Fortress Classic, I haven't palyed that in a long time..Great game.

Yeah, so..
-Team Fortess Classic
-Day of Defeat
-Unreal Tournament 2000
-Call of Duty 2

Also What I used to do in the summer is hook up a LAN throuout my house with a hub and play Halo ( Then Halo 2 when it came out) Over seperate TV's in different rooms (which prevents screen peeking, and is great to hear the rageful yell of a friend you just owned through the walls)..Great times.
 
Hey by the by, I forgot to put that the Halo was played on XBOX not the PC version..sorry about that.

BTW, you could still play Halo on the PC, but it's not as good as the XBOX version...
 
ohh man i forgot about worms, definitely that one. worms armageddon is the best I believe. but you'd want the full game to get all the funny stuff, the demo doesnt do it justice
