I'm looking at buying a brand new ThinkPad L440 once I have the funds - I'll probably be buying about August time now I think. I paid £200 or so into the bank today and I should be getting some money soon from developing a website for a customer, so I'm getting there slowly but surely.
I was just configuring a machine and I'm trying to work out if it's worth upgrading the i3-4000M to the i5-4200M. It's an £80 upgrade and I've done some research and found that the i5-4200M doesn't seem an awful lot faster than the i3. Can anybody tell me what the difference is? They're both dual-cores but I'm aware that the i5 is stock clocked a little higher and the turbo boost also clocks slightly higher. I'll be doing programming and photo editing on it mainly - maybe a little bit of video editing too (possibly).
If I can save money by not upgrading to an i5, I can probably afford to replace the 500GB HDD with a 240 or 256GB SSD. By the time I buy in about August or early September, 256GB SSDs will be cheaper anyway.
