i3 vs core2duo

So I've been looking into getting a laptop/imac from apple. I'll probably go with the laptop because it's more mobile even though probably not as worth it. I was looking at the imac which has i3 and the laptops only have core2duo.

Is i3 a lot better than core 2 duo? Or is it really just the same thing? I've heard a lot of good comments about i3 and how it's a better.

Will the laptops every use i3 or is it even worth it to have that upgrade?

i3 > C2D.
Bit in bold:
What do you mean?

Do you need the portability?
What will you be using the computer for?

oh sorry I meant as in will it be worth it waiting for them to have it before purchasing since I've heard all the good things about i3.

I need it for portability and performance. I will be using it for media tasks mainly. For example video editing/rendering, graphic creation/editing, music creation/editing, gaming. etc.

The i3 is the CPU for you then. Do you have a budget? You could easily find a decent i3 laptop.

According to the technical specs have made it clearly indicated that Intel core i3 beats the core 2 duo in most departments. I'd say the i3 processor is the logical choice to make.

I actually don't have a budget. As I have money saved for the purchase. The thing however is I need to get a mac laptop for media work purposes and school. Unless you have such macbook pro options to offer.

Actually even if you don't what would you recommend windows based wise?
