i5-4200u vs i3 3110m

OK i'll admit it I'm not suoer savy when it comes to processors and their individual quality basically I need to purchase either this:

Acer V5-573 15.6" as seen here:

http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/lapto...v5-573-15-6-laptop-21836929-pdt.html#longDesc

which features an i5-4200u

or this Toshiba C50 15.6 Inch Ci3 1TB as seen here:

Which features an i3 3110m

There's £110 in it so I'm wondering is the i5 really worth that? Going by this comparison I don't think so but I'd hate to buy a much lesser laptop just to save that cash.

They are honestly about the same same in performance but the i5 being of a different design (newer) will give you about the same performance with using less power to make that performance.

is it really worth the extra cash for virtually the same performance but drawing slightly less power?

I would disagree. Get the i3. Save yourself some money. I have the i5-4200U, and it's a fine processor but from these benchmarks the difference won't be much and the price difference is pretty considerable.

Thanks for your input Darren, this is why im still sitting on the fence, but my budget is tight just now so the extra cash would be a bonus. Id just be gutted if i got the i3 and it spluttered on me.

Nah I wouldn't worry about it. What are your uses for the laptop?

Hi Darren it's for a photobooth so running a photobooth software called breeze dslr and also probably running software to enable live slideshow however it would be great if I could do some photoshop on the laptop but not too sure if it will cope

You'd want a better video card if you're doing that, neither of which these have. Finding one with a decent video card would raise the price a lot though.

Hi Darren I take it the better video card only applies if I'm wanting to work on Photoshop? I take it it will still run just not optimally and might splutter a bit?

Is it at all possible to purchase a better video card in future and either replace the existing video card or somehow use the better one externally?

Its just the £250 - £400 is my budget and really can't go over it

You can't change laptop video cards or upgrade them, so you're stuck with what you start with.

ok so the graphics card will cope with basic photoshop editing, and will run the booth software but isnt useful for more computer intensive processes?

So if both have the same video card and the processors are virtually the same i may as well get the i3?

Went for the i3 as the i5 sold out, going by the performance I shouldn't notice much, hopefully it will be a bargain.

Thanks for all the help
