I5-750 OC and temp questions

I feel dumb but I forgot to check my temps before installing a new CPU cooler.

How does 21c idle and 53c loaded sound on prime 95?

If these are good should I just up my ratio or change the FSB? I just want a mild OC at 3.2-3.4.

those temps are just fine! going to 3.2-3.6 is easy, shouldnt require any voltage changes. just make sure it stays below 70C under full load.

Thanks, I did the test right after installing the new cooler. The paste must have set because I just ran p95 and 17-50 after 10 min.

I will go slow. I think I am just gloing to up the multiplier from 21 to 23 to go to 3059mhz to start. Is there a better way or is this the right start?

this is the right start. I'm pretty sure that your motherboard should be able to get up to 3.8/4.0 ghz without any problems. Depends on the chip you get though.

Another question. My memory is 1333 C7. I have been reading, should I up my CPU freq to 160 from 133? From what I understand this would then up my mem speed to 1600. Is that correct and are there down sides to this?

From my math this would OC to 3.36 and then I think run the mem at 1600 and I would use C9.

You could either run 1600 cas 9 or there should be some memory multiplier options in your Bios as well. Typically it's like 6, 8, and 10 multipliers available. Stock is 10, so yeah 1333 with stock base clock speed. With 160 base clock, if you changed your multi on the ram to 8 thats only 1280. You could do 167 base clock and that would give you 1336 (close enough) and 3.5ghz on the CPU.

In my MOBO the multiplier is 20 base and 21 for turbo at 133.

My max mult is 21. I set the freq at 160 to get a 3.36 oc no problem. However, now that multiplier is fixed at 21 and does not auto adjust to 9 at idle, is this normal? It seems a waste of power and heat, now it idles at 31 deg. I was thinking I would still have the auto mult feature with 9-21 depending on system needs.

I just re-checked. I have it set at 20 with the multiplier at auto and turbo on. For some reason the multiplier and turbo are staying on all the time and wont clock down at idle when I OC.
