i5-i7 comparison Q's?

Is there much of a difference on the i5-i7? iv been told that there isn't that much of a difference on them, just price.

Bang for buck though i'd get a i5.
 
The i7s have hyper-threading meaning they have 8 threads rather than 4 (but still only 4 cores), but the extra threads only make a difference if you use heavily-threaded applications. For gaming, there is very little difference between the i5 2500K and i7 2600K, but for something more CPU intensive like video editing there is going to be more of a difference between the two. Your budget and what you want to use the PC for will determine whether you go for an i5 or an i7.

Yeah i'm just a normal game player, i made a gaming setup with a 400 dollar budget, the cpu i ended up with is the i3, these are the parts i used.

and if you dont mind, what would you upgrade 1st? for gaming.

Very simply put... get the i5 :P

Nah... compared to the i7, the i5 lacks hyperthreading (4 threads vs 8 threads), L3 cache (6MB vs 8MB), and is clocked a little slower. For most, the i5 is more than enough.

Video card. Pretty much the lowest AMD one you can get. Won't get any decent settings on high resolutions. And while the power supply is antec, there's no specs on it, so it may be a bad unit.

But $400 won't get you a lot. Still need a hard drive and RAM.

It does have specs, BP430, in other words an Antec Basiq 430W, or not really able to power much more than what is in there.

First upgrade the power supply, then the graphics card. The CPU, I am sat on the same one right now and can play any game on full settings without a single stutter
 
Nah I have 8gb of ram. And a 150gb hdd. So I have the set up up and running. Just trying to figure out what to do next.
