I have found this great looking X58 motherboard that I want found here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157163

I also noticed that it's CPU socket type is LGA 1366 which the i7 will fit it, I know. The i5 says it socket type is LGA 1156. When searching through the 1156 mobo's i see that most, if not all of them, say they are compatible with both the i7 and the i5 processor.

What I am wondering is if the i5 will fit into an X58 motherboard?

I apologize if this is a dumb question. Thanks.

No the i5 uses a LGA 1156 socket. The X58 motherboard use a LGA 1366 socket. The reason it says it is compatible with the i7 is because the new i7 860 uses LGA 1156 socket like the i5's do. If you think about it it is a little misleading but that is what we are here for right:)

Yeah, Asrock is the low end division of asus.

And 1366 cpu's only work in an X58 mobo, while 1156 cpu's only work in a P55 motherboard.
