I currently have my 920 OC'd to 3.4 ghz and My ram at about 1600mhz 7 7 7 24 1t timings ...

Ok so Idle I get about 33-34 degrees C
running prime 95 I am currently getting a max temp of about 65 degrees C and under...

I have a Scythe Mugen 2 HS, AC MX2 compound..one of these :http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103022
on one side
and on the other I have this:

...any ideas? are those bad temps?.... I believe my dram voltage is set to 1.64 right now maybe that is an issue? (I want to be stable)..

65C's acceptable, not really "ideal" but not cause for alarm, because take into consideration under real world conditions even gaming you likely wont see temps like that

1.64V on your RAM's a bit much, the safe limit for the i7's IMC is 1.65V, any more than that and you can damage your CPU. What's the vcore set at?

If you're worried about the temps you could always check if your case has room for any more fans, that could bring it down a bit further

Those temps are perfect.

85c is max. Don't ever let it get that hot.

My i7 @ 3.43Ghz idles 35-38c.

Running Prime95 I got to about 60c.

I have a Noctua NH-U12P SE1366 cpu cooler.

Mine is a C0 also.

It's no reason for a sad face. This thing smokes, and it's much
more computer than I will ever use. :D

Does that CPU cooler overhang over the RAM on your MOBO?

When I upgrade my stock cooler - I was looking at that one. But on a few videos I've seen - it looks like a pretty big cooler.

My RAM has a tall heat sink like these

And it appeared the Noctua would bump into these heat sinks. My other option was a V8 - but I really like the Noctua.

yeah, but I feel I could get better results with a d0...which costs the same
Well, they didn't exist when I bought my chip, and I've seen
plenty of people get well over 4Ghz with my batch # and others.
How much OC do you really "need" from an i7? ;)

Does that CPU cooler overhang over the RAM on your MOBO?
It's close, very close, but the fan will not interfere with TALL RAM.
The camera angle wasn't perfect so the cooler doesn't look straight but it is,
and there is a good 1/8" of clearance.

I am using speedFan and should I be referring to the "Core" temps or the "CPU" temp when referring to the 85c max temp?

Thanks very much in advance!

Don't use speedfan with i7 please, it's not accurate. It was showing my i7 was idling at 25 while it was 50 ( both in realtemp and coretemp ) so i will never trust speedfan again. Download Real Temp or Core Temp.
