i7 OC Help

Hey, I have this GIGABYTE board; http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128374

With this board I can use Gigabyte's software to OC in 3 different steps. As we all know the i7 starts at 2.67 GHz, and with Intel's turbo, it runs at 2.8GHz. With Gigabyte's software the max it will let me OC is 3.2 GHz. This is fine for me, I don't need anymore power. The only problem is, now unless I have the CPU set to stock speed, the computer will not boot. It goes through POST and all, and it freezes right before I see the Vista flash screen. I don't understand this. It was running fine for the longest time at 3.2, reboots and all. Now unless it's at 2.6, it won't boot windows. Any clue on this?

have you tried to reset the cmos yet? and for future refrence, don't use software to overclock, do it through the bios

Yes, I have to reset the CMOS everytime I try to OC it. I OC, it fails to boot, reset CMOS, reboot, everything is fine. I've OC'd through BIOS and the software. Either way it makes it fail to boot. I'm just curious if anyone knows why because it used to work.

what is the multiplier set at in the bios? if its 20, change it to either 19 or 21. also wonder what kind of voltage that software decided to put through your chip

Stock multiplier is 20. I don't know volts right off the top of my head. I'll have to look when I get home.
