hi there....i bought a storage building full of stuff and there was a laptop in it...it is a ibm thinkpad a21m...i think it is locked and needs a password...is there any way around this....thanks

Firstly, you bought a storage building full of stuff?

Secondly, I am surprised that someone left a laptop there. Maybe it was by accident?

Generally, this should be fine. Do you know what operating system the computer has on it? In XP, it is really easy to bypass a user account password. If it is a BIOS password, it'll be quite a bit harder, but I'm sure there is a way to do it.

If you know what the OS is, post back.

BTW, if you didn't know, a BIOS password is one on a black screen (generally), with a blue box in the middle reading "Password: __________" or something similar.

it was one of those mini-warehouse sales.....if you don't pay the monthly storage bill they will auction off the contents...as far as the os....i'm gonna guess "98" or xp

when you power up..it goes to a black screen and in the upper left hand corner it has a 1 over a smallcan looking icon and then a padlock next to it and then a space bar for a letter
