Okay, let me start from scratch.
Went to my brothers house to help him set up his Internet with U-Verse running through AT&T.
Got everything up and running with the WIRED connection but for some reason I couldn't connect to the Wireless Internet. Then I remembered that on his older laptop (the ThinkPad) - it won't connect to secured networks. Everytime I DO try and connect to a secured network, it hangs on the "Acquiring Network Adress" prompt. So I removed the security on the network and everything worked great.
BUT......
I had to be hard headed and try and fix the problem. I researched and downloaded drivers for [11 a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Express Adapter] from the link below. I installed the drivers, restarted the computer and suddenly I couldn't connect to the internet even with a wired connection. I tried browsing to the file where the driver was located, but apparently it was an incorrect driver. I then tried rolling back the drivers but it couldn't find any older driver files.
I then went to Device Manager and found the adapter, right clicked and selected Update Driver. Since I didn't have a CD, I chose Install from a list or specific location, then selected Don't Search. I will choose the driver to install. I found [11 a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Express Adapter] on the list so I downloaded it. Restarted the computer.
Everything works again..
..
..
..
EXCEPT I STILL CAN'T CONNECT TO A SECURED NETWORK!!!!!!!
What did I do wrong?

Since I've posted I've tried:
Changing the security type of two different networks I have access to, to WPA-2 AES & WPA-2 TKIP & WEP. (Everytime I change the settings, I delete the network off of my preferred network)
I've also removed the Anti-Virus and Firewall temporarily to try and connect, but no such luck. Still hung on acquiring network address for any secured network. Unsecured networks still work great.
Also, I've researched the problem and seen where sometimes the IBM or INTEL drivers will interfere with the Windows Drivers. Basically, from what I understand- they're both fighting for control over the wireless networks. I have DELETED Intel(R)PROSet/Wireless WiFi Software from control panel in hopes of letting Windows take control over Wireless functions. I have also gone to the properties of the wireless connections and CHECKED the box "Use Windows to Configure my wireless network settings."

For any future dwellers - Try the bolded portion of the post and RESTART the computer.
