ibuypower rig?

Hey All,

I have been in the market for a new computer for games. The old one I have I built about 3 or 4 years ago and has such specs as Pentium D...DDR2 663 Ram...yeah, painful.

I was on newegg and saw some of these ibuypower computers that looked fairly priced. Didnt like all the specs (like 12 gigs of ram...) so i went to their site to build one myself. I didn't know what you guys know of this site/have done business with them?

Also, I have been out of the game for a while and am not up with the current technology. I am def. going to do an i7 core, 930 i think but am concered with the graphics card. I was thinking going SLI GTX 260s or an ATI 5850. I dont know if cross fire 5850s would be over kill.

I am mainly looking to get back into some of the newer games..especially bad company 2/crysis/Flight Simulator X (all on max specs)

EDIT:: What operating system would be the best? I hear alot of people raving about 64 bit windows 7.

everything is good except for a few things. get the haf 932 they offer. its the best case they have. secondly get the 5870 which is great. beats gtx 260 sli but loses to dual 5850's. get the corsair hx850w they offer. its modular and much better. 850w gives u more headroom as well.
 
^ I would take the Tempest EVO over the HAF any day. It's a really great case. Like an Antec 900, but better.

I agree about upgrading the GPU though. Even Xfire'd 5770's would be an upgrade.

I'm not much of a fanboy for either GPU so switching isn't a problem. Im looking for performance! If anything I think for the moment I would get a 5870 with the ability to have a crossfire setup later on. What do you think of that? It should give me room to upgrade significantly then.

my main concern is it'll be like the 8800GTX (Which is what i have now) when it came out. Big promises, but quickly outdated and sub par performance.

850w PSU sounds like a good idea too. Like i said, i've been outa the "game" for a while. Maybe even a 900 if I opt to go crossfire in the future...?

As for the mobo/cpu they seem like a good combination right with all the other components?

Okay,

I am thinking the same thing. I will have everything at the specs for the case that a year or two from now I do install another 5870. I just hope it performs well!

Does anyone have a similar rig that can give some words of wisdom?

Also, how does windows 7 64 bit perform for gaming?
 
Sweet, it does seem alot of people have this rig. It seems to be a higher end capability one at that.

I am just looking for a sweet system that will chew up and spit everything out that i throw at it. (it can take its time chewing on crysis, of course)
