I wish to install Windows XP Professional on this HP Omnibook 500 that someone gave me because it had a problem they could not fix. I found that it is an issue with the video card. I think they tried to install an incompatible driver or something. I had the idea of removing the Hard Drive and using an IDE adapter to hook up the hard drive to my regular pc. I have to do this because the laptop has no cd or floppy drive and it will not boot from the external cd drive and it is cheaper to buy a 5 dollar IDE adapter. Anywho, I plug it into my pc and put the XP cd into the cd drive and install it like regular. Has anyone around here done something like this? I am gonna do it next week and I thought I would gather some info and any stories would help. I am sure the procedure should work just fine...unless anyone here has had any particularly bad experiences?
Thanks a bunch.
