ide and sata drives installed together, have conflicts

hello everybody, i have a custom system with a intel mobo and a core 2 duo 2.8, sata drive 160 gig. and happy with it, but i am trying to hookup my older ide drive from my old computer to copy personal files in to my new one but setup wont recognize the old one on DRIVE CONFIGURATION and it does on BOOT ORDER but wont let me put the new sata as first and it keep booting on the old one but it never loads windows. How can i do to to setup both? Thanks
 
Are there instructions for how to change the order of the drives in the boot order? The manual doesn't say anything about it and all I can get form the intel site is it saying you should change it.
 
i go to the bios setup and it shows the two drives in the BOOT ORDER option but it wont let me change it. There must be something wrong because on the DRIVE CONFIGURATION option it does not show the ide drive just the sata, but in the BOOT ORDER option it shows both
