IDE Controllers & disk boot failure

So I reformatted my computer with the OEM software and after a bit of twinks I got here:

No IDE controllers detected and it says DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER.

Keep in mind I'm trying to fix this computer. At first I thought it was my harddrive but it doesn't seem like it. I had to buy a new computer because out of the blue this one stopped booting.

Could it be the mobo?

Thanks.

I changed the cable and by twinks I just mean reformatting options.
But I've found the problem last night after posting, it's the power supply.

Before reformating it didn't do that and after reformating it did, but I didn't think of opening my CD rom. It doesn't light up or open and I changed the power plug various times and nothing. Which would explain the disk boot failure, because no power to the HD.

One thing that I didn't mention was also that my OEM XP software kept having problems when I reformated, said it couldn't copy some files, anyways I'll get another version of XP.

:)

It was a 2 phase problem it seems, by doing all the reformating and problems with the XP I rebooted a lot, I'm guessing that blew the supply and that's what caused the IDE controllers not being detected.

Once I change my power supply, I still need to reformat my HD but I won't use the OEM software that came with the tower (the "recovery disk") I'll use an original XP CD.

What really boggles my mind is the problem that got me here in the first place, which is one day I came to boot my computer and after the XP loading screen my screen went black and the lights on my keyboard went off...
