IDE drive cable error?

when i start my computer, which i just built with all new components, it brings up the post screen i guess you would call it, and it says it is searching for all IDE drives, then, about 30 secs later, is says that i dont have a 80 conductor cable installed on drive 1, which im assuming its my hard drive, but could be any drive. i am running an ata 100 WD hard drive, which is IDE. any thoughts on this? could it be a faulty cable? everything does run fine though once windows boots.

Heh, i just asked this question not too long ago. I still havent fixed the problem, but from what i remember.. is that in one of your IDE drives, you're using a 40 wire 40 pin cable. I think for it to run at its maximum speed, you should replace it with a 80 wire 40 pin cable. they seem the same, but the grooves on the cable are much smaller, most likely the grooves are half the size, doubling the wires inside.
