Well my computer spec:
Intel 3930k 3.2 GHz
MSI X79A-65 8D
4GB RAM
60GB CORSAIR SSD
2 HDD (500GB & 1TB) SATA
LEADTEK GT220
SAMSUNG DVD-RW
LG BLU-RAY WRITER
750W PSU

So I am using for editing. I definitely going to use windows XP SP3. So which setting is better. SATA in IDE or AHCI?

Usually AHCI is better, but if you've got XP then AHCI can be problematic. :/ You'll need to go to MSI's website and see if you can download the SATA AHCI driver which goes onto a floppy disk and then you'll need to reinstall XP. When installing XP (because you'll need to reinstall it if it is already installed), you'll need to press F6 as soon the setup begins to load files, insert the floppy disk with the AHCI driver on it, select the driver to use, and then continue with setup. It's quite a lot of hassle and probably not worth your time. Setting up AHCI with Vista and 7 is so much easier than with XP. Not to mention you need a floppy drive too, so you'll have to travel 10 years into the past to try and find one.

Why do you want to use XP with an X79 board and an i7 3930K anyway? I'm not even sure if MSI would provide a SATA AHCI driver that goes on a floppy for XP with that board anyway, in which case you can only use the IDE mode. Oh, and 750W PSU is way overkill for a GT 220, you could get away with a quality 500W with that card.

SP3 is better with SATA drive in AHCI mode. If its not recognizing the drive, just slipstream the AHCI drivers to your XP CD.

IDE will be more than enough for you as long as you are not doing something what needs very fast transfer speeds.

Still you can always integrate AHCI drivers on your Windows XP CD-ROM disk if you REALLY want to lol.

If I were you I would go buy a Windows 7 installation disk. I stayed with Windows XP for several years because Vista was so awful and I did not want to buy Windows 7. Windows XP is just a very outdated operating system and technology has moved on.
