IDE Problem

well im not meaning to take sides, but i think what pceye was doing was telling me the reasons not to put them on the same channel and the reason not to getan adaptr card, and just told me why it is so. But anyway, i probably would,nt probably be burning large video files, so i'll just stick to 1 ide channel.

I don't blame you there unlike some apparently. What I was referring to before was due to having worked with large video files whether the optical drive was on the same ide channel or not to take notes.

Video files themselves are a large amount of compressed data that simply places a good load on the cpu when going to burn any large file to disk regardless of whether the drives themselves are ide or sata. An identical work load is simply more of a task for a single core cpu over a dual core or even now available quad cpu.
