IDE socket on motherboard

I don't know if this is a dumb question... Which probably means yes it is, BUT...

Today, while switching IDE cables on my rig, a small piece of plastic from around the cable port on my motherboard chipped off... Now the thing works perfectly, no problems, other than its annoying me.

My question is can I somehow replace that plastic port? As in remove the plastic from the pins and place a new one on? I probably shouldn't be worrying about it, but thats me, I'm OCD. Let me know if its at all possible (Or if I'm just out of my mind). Thanks,

It will be fine, there just there for user convenience to plug the IDE cable the right way around. Alot of older Socket 5 and 7s didnt even have them. It would be a pain in the butt to replace.

The little thing to be sure the keys are right? Yeah, it's just plastic. I get frustrated at times and end up breaking the edges off when I yank the cables off :P It's just to help you line things up. As long as pin 1 lines up(IE the red wire) on the board and drives, everything's fine.
 
Cool, just making sure. It was just the bottom square... If you look at it, you can't even tell... Almost as if it was meant to not be there. Thanks.

As an add-on general question, is there a safe way of taking off the rest of the plastic to leave the pins exposed?
