IDE to SATA adapter not reading

my hdd, back, and cd-rom all have IDE connections
My mobo only has sata connections
so i got this http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0312310

i know that it says motherboard adapter.. but im not sure why it wouldnt be able to plug into the HDD and then the sata cable go into the mobo

now my computer wont read the sata ports- in BIOS it says there is nothing connected..
Is there anything else i can use so that the BIOS will show that i have something connected?

Does your PSU have any molex plugs?

yes it does.. and im using splitters cause i needed more of them
