IDE to SATA

Hi

I got a classic issue... My MoBo supports only 2 IDE hardware but I got 3.

Is there some way I can connect IDE to SATA socket via any reduction or what ever?
If not I suppose I better get a new hard drive at least one dont I?

You might be able to find an old pci IDE raid card for cheaper than a new hard drive. And no there is no way to go ide to sata (that I know of anyway)

are they 3 different types of devices? or do you have 2 hard drives and 1 optical drive or 1 hard drive and 2 optical drives. 1 IDE cable has 2 attachments to connect 2 similar devices. Then you just have to set the jumpers on the back on the drives that are on the same cable.

oh maybe its a newer motherboard and only has 1 IDE controller? probably gonna have to try what the others have said. I would upgrade to Sata drives if I were you though.

In fact it is X58 and has only one IDE socket so yes I will have to upgrade to SATA if not now in future certainly...

thx for help all

Stay away from those cards...I have never seen one do a good job...the one I tried actually butchered write/transfer speeds by half.

As I am sure about everyone knows, Serial ATA hard drives have faster read and write speeds than IDE. But I would not upgrade a whole motherboard just to get Serial ATA.

Dont worry I am upgrading because of Core i7. I solved it already by buying new SATA drive

thx all
