ideal temp for X1900 XTX

I saw today that my X1900 XTX idles at 70C and was running at 95C under full load and this scares me. I was planning on OCing but now have second thoughts. Is 95C normal for this card? BTW, this is on stock cooling.

edit : there are 3 different temperatures being reported in atitool : voltage regulator, GPU temp, and temp chip. the 95C is the GPU temp reading. the voltage regulator runs 3-5C cooler than the GPU temp and the temp chip runs about 13C cooler than GPU temp. not sure if this makes a difference but just thought i would post this just in case.

What you can do is use ATI Tool and manually configure the fan speed. Set it to 100% and see how low the temps get on idle and full load. It may be that the fan isnt kicking up as much as it should.

I have my card running at roughly 45-60C idle with stock cooling, the X1900 series runs very hot.

EDIT- I might buy that GPU cooler ETSA, is it worth it???

Increasing the fan speed seemed to lower the temp by 6-7C but damn this card is loud. As soon as i get some money, I'll go for the cooler ETSA recommended.

Also, I heard some people getting quite good clocks on stock cooling so now I really want to OC. What is the max temp I should let my card reach before I back off?

i dont see why you need to OC your card because it is enough as it is to run most recent games on high

I thought it was worth it, huge drop in temps and internal temps of my case dropped as well.

Under load temps are around 50-60C now.

Even the vf700 is a good buy, cheaper too.

Im not really OCing for the games but for the benchmarks. ok so upon rebooting, i find that the card now idles at 52C which is a huge drop from the previous 70C. weird.
