IDEX Switch

I would like to add a second hard drive with linux. I have windows 7 on the first drive. I see a "hard drive switch" at industechnologies.com called an IDEX switch. I've got an ASUS x-58 with an i7 950 and 12 gigs of ram. Does anyone know anything about this piece of hardware? I'd like to be able to boot from either drive. What other issues might I encounter that would make this a bad idea?

Why not just buy a new hard drive and plug it directly into the motherboard?

You don't need this piece of hardware. All it does is switch which HDD the computer boots into when you start it up. When you install linux, you'll install GRUB and that will do the same thing. You'll start up the machine, and be able to pick either OS to boot into.
