IE 8 and IE 9 problems

When visiting a web page that has hyperlinks that open a pop-up type box, such as Shockwave puzzle, or web sites with polls that open box to show replies, both IE 8 and IE 9 just sit there, nothing happens. I had hoped IE 9 would have corrected that problem. When I go to Firefox, the hyperlinks open immediately. Does anyone know why I am unable to get to these hyperlinks?? Am using Windows 7, pop up blocker turned off in Internet Explorer, security set to the low end, but still unable to open them. Beng unable to open them in IE 8 is what made me swing to Firefox, but I certainly like some of the new features in IE 9.

In IE 9 there is a compatability mode. If the page you are using appears not to work click the icon in the address bar. (Top left) The icon looks like a torn page.

I agree. IE9 is a really nice piece of software.

there should be no reason for one to use ie, when we have chrome and fox which are much faster and safer,,,,,,
