IE not loading

Hi, I have got AOL Gold Broadband which runs on 2 computers, 1 a desktop and the other being a laptop (which is wireless). The problem is that when I click on IE icon with both computers, the window comes up but it takes forever for the page to load and after a few minutes of it trying to load it say's "the page cannot be dispalyed".
Also when I am trying to play downloaded tracks from MSN on Windows Media Player (from MSN Music UK) it asks me to download a security update, I click yes but after a minute an error comes up saying "the connection with the server was reset". I am at my wits end trying to get it sorted. Anybody know how I can solve this issue?

It used to work till AOL upgraded the Gold subscription from 512Kbps to 1Mbps (while they were changing it they didn't give any notice and I could access AOL for a couple of day's and because I couldn't access AOL I phoned them and they messed up my AOL, I had to uninstall and reinstall AOL and after that I feel my connection hasn't been right since. On AOL Gold the speed is meant to be 512kbps but after looking at my wireless network onnection status it say's the speed is 48.00Mbps which it say's that this excellent - maybe this is something completely different. I am confussing myself now. Maybe after they mucked me about it messed up with my wireless connection?

Someone help me please, I am going round in circles!!!

your wireless speed is not an issue here, forget about it. the issue would be on the dsl side of things. Are you in the US? if so, use the following link and do a speed test from the one nearest to you. see what speeds you get. armed with that knowledge you can ask neighbors to do the same and see if your speed drop has to do something with your area, if not, call your ISP and complain, or change it...

seems to be a fairly good test, gives the estimated overhead as well.

your speeds are about as fast as mine, are you unhappy with the speed, should it be going faster? Mabe a call to your ISP would help?.. mabye not..

I am happy with my speeds as long as they are the same as what I pay for but the problem is with IE and windows media player

right, sorry, got side tracked.

follow the steps in the sticky , and if that takes care of it let us know. If not, then post a HijackThis log in the security forum. :)
