IE ver.6 problem (microsoft websites related)

Hi, I hope someone out there can help me out. I would reeely appreciate it.

My Toshiba A70 Satellite runs Windows XP Pro and I have created two administrative level users, one for me and one for my wife. My user account is running ok but my wifes user account has a problem.

There were some settings that she might have changed and I cannot figure it out. Ever since that time, she cannot check her hotmail account. She can still sign in with MSN messenger 7.0 but when she receives an email through her hotmail and clicks on the icon on the homepage of MSN messenger, all she gets is a blank webpage with absolutely nothing to display. Not even the one that shows when a webpage cannot show up properly.

So I tried to go to windows update to see if there was something that I could pick up from there (using her user account) but I got the same result as above (a blank webpage). So I figured that maybe the IE is screwed and cannot open Microsoft webpages, because when I go to another website that is not MS related, it loads properly with no problems at all.

Bottom line, I hope someone can help me resolve the issue or atleast direct me somewhere, I would appreciate it. Otherwise, I figure that I might have to reinstall Internet Explorer which I don't reeely want to do.

PS: This problem does not exist on my user account because when my wife signs in under my user account, there are no problems at all.

Thanks.

you can try deleting all the temporary internet files and cookies (go to internet explorer, tools, internet options, and its on the first page). If you so that and its not fixed, then i would backup her favorites and documents, copy them to your documents, then create a new user account and copy the files back to her.

I have already created a new user account but it has the same problem. Maybe it has something to do with her MS Passport, I don't know. Plus, I figured that even if I created a new hotmail account for her, it would still be the same because when I logged into hotmail under her user account, I had the same result. But I will try your first suggestion and see what happens. Hope it works and I will let you know what happens.

Thanks Geoff.

I deleted all the temp. files and cookies but still no change. So I just saved her files to my account and deleted her user account. I have simply given up on that one and am now using only one account. Just hoping that it doesn't happen to my user account, that's all.

Thanks again Geoff.
