IE8 favourites keep disappearing

Hi,

I have a user whose favourites in IE8 keep disappearing on a regular basis. Previously we have just restored them but now as they have disappeared again, this time I would like to find the root cause or put some sort of fix in place to stop this from happening again.

Does anybody know what is causing the favourites to keep disappearing or know of a permanent fix?

Thanks for this - I’m interested in fixing this manually for experience but not 100% clear on how to modify it.

If I click to modify the registry key, the value data I am presented with is C:\winnt\Profiles\All Users\Favorites – is this what I change to %userprofile%\Favourites? Does is need typing out as c:\winnt\profiles\userprofile\favourites?

The value type is currently REG_SZ, can I change it to REG_EXPAND_SZ or will have to create a whole new string value for the favourites and set it to this?

Sorry I haven’t got much experience in modifying the registry!
