If you only encrypt a part of the disk, have you then taking into account that some programs might save a temporary file elsewhere? There is also the problem with unencrypted data appearing in paging files...
In such cases the thief will be using data recovery software also.
yeah I have read up on that, but if that is the case even an encrypted file system is not fool proof. There have been cases of things stored in memory that can also be used to exploit encrypted file systems.
I mean nothing is 100% full proof, but I find it hard pressed someone will crack my encrypted disk image I store data on.
