Do I have to install anything new, or will it be plug and play?
I know that.[-0MEGA-];1222307 said:Also note that if you get an X58 motherboard you will also need to buy DDR3 RAM.
The issue really comes when you are changing 3 devices at once, I believe that is the limit at where Microsoft will ask you to reactivate Windows, so be prepared for that. Also note that there is a possibility that you will need to reinstall Windows after switching motherboards.I know that.
But RAM is plug and play.
So all I need is the Mobo and CPU
I know the CPU is plug and play, but the mobo has drivers etc, so ill need to install those possibly....

True, which is why it's good to keep in mind that you most likely will have to reactivate Windows afterwards.Just changing the motherboard ends up looking like a lot more than 3 devices. But for Windows to boot, you almost always need to clear the old drivers out or run a repair.
