If possible, would you put OS X on a non Mac computer?

Would you consider loading OS X on a non Mac computer?

I would not be interested. OS X does a lot of neat things but it doesn't run the software I use regularly (mainly games, if it was office stuff there are plenty of decent alternatives).

Would you be interested in running OS X on a PC with cross over that will actually run more and more Windows games natively every day?

I have a copy of cross over and it has a bunch of games listed but I haven't really tried to load them, mainly because I already have a PC and don't have time to spend hours and hours installing and testing it.

I don't think that's enough incentive to change but if one was already running it I wouldn't object to trying it and seeing how it stacks up.

OK, so the bottom line for you is gaming? If OS X had the game support Windows does, would you consider loading OS X on to your PC and trying it out? I mean a copy of Leopard is roughly half the price of Vista Ultimate, and it is Unix based.

Thanks

I have OS X running on my PC at the moment. In answer to your question, yes I would buy it. I mean I absolutely love using it and although I didn't have that much luck with games. I managed to install Cod4 (the PC version) on it using some program I cant remember and it worked sort of well. If I was using my desktop now I'd buy the Mac version of Cod4 cos then it would run fine.

So basically, yeah I would buy it as an OS instead of Windows because its much cheaper and I love using it alot more.

I would definitely "acquire" OSX just to see how well it runs on non-Mac hardware if Apple actually made a version for PCs.

It actually runs really well on non-Mac hardware. I haven't ever had problems with it running on my PC.

That's not necessarily true. In the 'Hackintosh' readme file, there are a bunch of system requirements. Some of them in there, I think, was an ICH9 chipset and a few others. Not every computer is blessed to have the perfect types of hardware to get the Hackintosh OS X software running perfectly.

If it were legal to run OS X on a PC, I would absolutely buy it in a heart-beat. However, there would be no way for Apple to do that without losing their reputation of quality products that they have worked so hard to uphold. They would be required to support hundreds of thousands of different kinds of hardware which would in turn plague them with the very problems that PCs have.

I think Mac should stick with Apple Computers only (good, since they've shown no indication to do otherwise).

This is actually true. Also you can't run any system updates until they have been tested and reissued by the OS X x86 dev team because some of them could break your system.

Anyone else want to add to the poll?

I would say no and yes. If money wasn't a factor (which it always is :[ ) then I would say yes, and dual boot with XP, just for the learning experience. But since money is always a factor, no, I would just stick to XP/Vista.

So did you vote yes or not or maybe?

Would os x even work on a non mac computer ???

Google 'Hackintosh'. it can be done, but it violates apples ULA, which means it is illegal to do so.

I voted 'yes.' Something that some fail to see is that having an apple is pretty exclusive. If you have one, you are 'exclusive.' Let's say their was a kid that came over and saw that i had a mac (which i don't), he would be all like, 'Oh shit bro, you have a mac!!' You would never hear , 'oh shit bro, you have a pc!!'

I would love to have a mac, but i agree it should only be allowed on apple platforms.
