hey guys I just got done installing everything and I thought I had the wiring right but when I turned it on it went for 62c to 99/98c and i think the fan in the front is making a loud noise (haf 912 case front fan). It did power on and it went to the bios screen to install the mobo cd but im not sure if I have the wiring right, here is a before and after picture, keep in mind this is my first time building and i didn't position the wires and tie wrap them yet

Did you use thermal paste? Are all the pushpins in properly? Did you remove the plastic cover from the cooler before mounting it?

thermal paste was already on the heatsink, I pushed down two pins and it was weird because I tried pushing the other two with as little force as possible but it seemed as though they were already pushed in and tight, and the only thing I removed was the cover for the cpu I didn't see a cover on the heat sink

update: all fans are working but the mobo starts at 60c when I start it up then goes to 98....98... then say A3

Those pushpins can be a pain, try reseating the heatsink. This time make sure the pushpins are turned clockwise as far as they go and then push them down to click.

Also, power the graphics card with the PCIe power cable rather than 2 molex. I would also reapply thermal paste again if i were you.

whats the easiest way to push the pushpins back out, and it seems to be the CPU fan that is making all the noise, is it suppose to be that loud

To remove the heatsink, all you do is take a flat head screwdriver and turn the heads counterclockwise to release them and pull up on the heatsink.

that makes sense, do you think the fan could be making noise because I pushed 2 pins down on one side first instead of pushing on 1 side then the other etc and should I take it off and apply more thermal grease. Is the noise normal?

I usually alternate pins when pushing them down. It's best now to clean off the existing thermal paste/pad with rubbing alcohol and then reapply new. You may have a broken or cracked blade on the fan.

I think im going to get a new heatsink/fan from best buy today just don't know which one would be compatible and easy to hook up without taking the mobo back out.

I'm always leary about the plastic tabs that they use on the bottom of those to hold it to the board. I had one where they broke so the heatsink was useless. It may be worth it to get one where it screws down into a bracket but that means the mobo would have to come out.

actually I don't think I would have too in this case, im going to get a cooler master hyper 212 and with my case (haf 912) it has a mobo window on left side panel so I should have enough room to put the back plate on there.
