Iiyama XB2776QS resolution

I have just bought an Iiyama - see above - monitor which I am really chuffed with. However, having installed everything and using the supplied DVI-D dual link signal cable I expected to get the full WQHD resolution of 2560 x 1440.

Sadly, my monitor is giving me only 2048 x 1152. I think my graphics run off the mother board so is it possible that this is not 'powerful' enough?

Can anyone advise whether this might be the case or is there some other reason for the lower resolution?

What motherboard do you have? Ideally, with such a high resolution display you should be using a display port. over DVI.

Hi Geoff,

Its a Gigabyte ultra durable GA-B85M-D3H

Please treat me gently as the graphics tech side is gibberish to me. I would be grateful for any guidance if I need another graphics card or some such.

Whilst the current resolution is brilliant and the colour excellent I would like to the able to use the high end resolution.

Mike

It's a limitation of your motherboard when using integrated graphics, you would need a dedicated video card. This is from Gigabyte:

Integrated Graphics Processor - Intel® HD Graphics support:
1 x D-Sub port, supporting a maximum resolution of 1920x1200@60 Hz
1 x DVI-D port, supporting a maximum resolution of 1920x1200@60 Hz
1 x HDMI port, supporting a maximum resolution of 4096 x 2160 @ 24 Hz / 2560 x 1600 @ 60 Hz

Cheers, Geoff, can you suggest such a graphics card which has Displayport or a suitable DVI output, please.
I know I should not put a restraint on it but preferably one that isn't too pricey.
I live in France but often shop for computer stuff in the UK if you could bear that in mind.

It is 130€ or just over £100 so slightly over the top but if its necessary I will save up my pennies. Mind you, with those two fans it looks like a space ship :)
Perhaps something slightly less will make it easier to convince my wife

Geoff, many thanks for your guidance. as the exchange rate is in my favour at the moment it looks like I'd better get my order in asap.

Thanks again.
