I apologize for asking this but I just want to be sure. I just moved my modem as well as my N Router from my den into my bedroom as 95% of the the time I use my laptop in the bedroom and only 5% of the time I use my desktop in my den. The modem and router are right next to my bed and for the best internet speed I'm just going to connect the laptop by ethernet cable instead of going wireless. For the fastest speed I should connect my laptop by cable to the Modem right not the Router or will I see no drop off in speed? Is there any way the router would be faster (If I use the Router I will turn my Windows Firewall off, if I don't use the Router the Firewall will be turned on). Thank you for your input.
As an aside, I'm going to have to get a Wireless device for my Desktop.
