i have the following board.

now my question is that i have one pci-e card hooked up right now with one monitor, i have another 17" monitor in my basement that i would like to hook up to do dual monitors.

here is where i'm confused, if i buy another Pci-e card and put it in. how does that work, i just hook up the other computer and i'm good to go?

with a dual monitor set up like that am i gonna have more desktop space? and i can run two different windows on the two different screens?

could any1 please clear this up for me.

If you´ll buy another PCI-E card it will give you an SLI setup... You´ll still gonna receive signal from 1 card to the monitor but 2x powerful signal :) ..

My suggestion is: Just hook up another monitor to the connector that is next to the connector you are using right now in your card.. So you can now run in dual monitor mode.

You can use 2 monitors with your video card, just hook them up to both the ports on the back. And with two monitors you can have each of them display the same image, or have your desktop split across both screens.
 
so what is the advantage of the two graphic cards??

and the monitor hooked up to the graphic card currently is VGA, which leave the DVI port, is there a adapter that converts VGA to DVI (my other monitor is VGA as well)?

think about it, two graphics cards working in prallel, 2x the processing power, 2x the performance, = ULTRA GAMING EXPERIENCE!!!!

of course there is, these are VERY common, they are extremely cheap on eBay, if you are uncomfortable with eBay then look at ebuyer.com, dabs.com, newegg.com, tigerdirect.com etc....

I know that DVI is newer than VGA (duh!) but is there really a signifance in image quality compared to a VGA connection?

I have a Viewsonic VA902b running on a VGA connection and the image quality is amazing! The only thing is that it is not compatible with DVI connectors:(

Just asking.

P.S. what is the point of 2 monitors showing the exact same image? Just to look cool? Because I have a nice 15" LCD that would look cool to hook up on the otherside of my desk. :D

last question.

if i run 2 graphic card wouldn't they each be going to two different monitors? thats were i'm confused how they would each be going to one monitor to make the gaming experiance better.
 
Im pretty sure if you have two video cards you still would hook the monitor up to the video card in the top pci-e slot
In your case you would hook up both the monitors to the top video card.
(you would also have to flip that little card thing inbetween the two pci-e slots so it says "sli-mode"....thats how it works on most motherboards, some you just change it in the bios settings.)
 
You don't have to run SLi to get dual monitors. After reading this thread I took my mom's flat panel and hooked it up to my 6600GT and now I have a dual monitor display. I do have to say it's pretty cool. Ultimate multitasking!!! :D
