Right, finally got all my stuff back from ebuyer in working order, put it all together, and hit another stumbling block.

Nothing posts, and theres one short beep... I know thats the beep code for RAM failure... At least I think its the same with this motherboard... Trouble is, with absolutely no RAM at all, I get 1 long 2 short repeated... which I think is a video controller fault...

Help please :)

EDIT: forgot to put in motherboard... Its an ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO...

One short beep normally means everything is ok, depends
If you don't see anything, check your monitor and video card first. Is everything connected?
1 long and 2 short beeps can mean problem with ram but with the display adaptor also

In general

One long beep-means the bios check cleared/OK

One short-Memory error

One Long/Two Short- Video Error

OK, so what its saying is when there is ram, there's a ram error, and when there's no ram there's a video error... does this mean there are errors in both?

Sure you got the standoffs under the board in the right places. Have you tried with just one stick of memory?
